IT'S ALIVE

Yes, the internet works! It only took exactly one week. Seriously, right to the minute. Now I can proceed with my plans! Last Wednesday while I was sitting at the library, I planned out a few blog posts. This includes a wishlist for Christmas and ways to save money during holiday season. I will create separate posts for those two probably later tonight or tomorrow. I don't think I've ever created a Christmas wishlist before. My family doesn't really celebrate it, but I wish we did. I want the full experience: setting up the tree, climbing up an unreliable ladder to put up lights, wearing ugly reindeer sweaters, and having a Christmas dinner!

When the internet started working about an hour ago, my roommate went to do her usual things: check email and read the news. She suddenly exclaimed (exclaiming is not in her nature, lol) and commanded I go on Yahoo.com to read an article because it was cute. And it was! A boy wrote a girl a love letter in the sixth grade and twenty-years later... they get married! You can read the article here. How sweet is that?! If only Jon and I went to the same elementary school... no, just kidding!

Jon actually went to the same elementary school as my cousin did. My cousin is the same age as me and Jon. She and I were basically best friends when we were younger and she told me about everyone at her school. So that's how I knew Jon existed. Come middle school, all three of us actually went to the same one. Apparently, I had three classes with Jon (we found this out recently when we thought about our class schedules!). But that's not the cute part (hehehe). Jon has had a crush on me since the first day of seventh grade. It's almost as cute as the article, right? Ha! Well, I think it's the cutest thing ever. I had a secret admirer for years and I had no clue! We are now second-years in college, so that makes it... eight years. Huh. That's a really long time...

Have a great day! :) My giveaway is still going on until December 15th!

Here's a picture quote I found from my tumblr (it goes with this post!):

More Than Four

For four years, I have loved you, secretly
Stealing glances at your lovely smile. Four
Years have I had my heart pounding like the rain,
Secretly wishing you were mine and
Secretly planning my way to your heart.

Every night, I prayed to God you would fall
In love with me. Or at the very least,
Look my way. Every night, I recite the
Speech I put together, confessing my
Hidden feelings for you. And every night,
I wonder why I couldn't find the words

As I stood close by. After those four years,
I moved two thousand miles away, heartbroken
To never see you again and even
More heartbroken to know you'll never know.
How could a boy like me be so shy? Why
Would a girl like you notice me anyway?

I indulged myself in the waters; the
waves slowly washed my feelings away, but
Never completely. Then, I fell in love.
Though she was not perfect, I always hoped
she was the one. I soon realized she
did not deserve what I gave her and your

Image ran through my mind, lingering behind
Every thought. The truth is, she was never
The one. It was you all along. You became

The air I breathe and my new hope for love.
You became a part of me. Together,
We will laugh and cry. Together, we will
Promise to love each other 'till death do
Us part. Let my voice guide you on rough days.
Let my hand guide you when you are lost. Let
Me love you for eternity and more.

This is a true story. I am the girl the speaker (my boyfriend) was and is still in love with. I wrote this poem for my creative writing class and the challenge was to take on my boyfriend's perspective. I really had no idea someone could like me for so long... and keep it a secret! He told me after we started dating after a while and it just melted my heart. Secret admirers are the cutest. I just didn't think it would happen to me! And that is my inspiration behind this poem :)

Two New Loves!

I spoke too soon when I thought there was no laptop for me last week; for some reason shipping became available just hours after I created that post. I decided to keep my new purchase a secret until it actually arrived in the mail though ;) My new HP laptop is perfect! The keypad and interface is gorgeous and it doesn't get too hot, given the vents on the side (not on the bottom! Great for keeping my lap cool!). What a great way to start out the school year :)

Besides a new laptop, I have... a new kitten!

Isn't she adorable?! I fell in love when I first held her :) I haven't found a name yet, but I'm working on it! In two days, I will be moving back for the school year, this time to live in an apartment! My dorm experience was alright, but it is way too expensive to live on campus. Three other girls and I found an apartment a couple blocks away from school and I'm bringing my kitty with me!

Customized Couples Keychain

Months back, I decided to give my boyfriend a sweet gift. I love surfing on Etsy.com; all the handmade goodies gets me thinking about what I could make! I wanted something he could keep by his side when I'm not there (hehe, so cheesy) and I found these adorable keychains! Scott from DustyNewt.com is extremely nice and talented. He helped me with my orders (I purchased some for my friends too, but with just their names... take a look at his items!) and sent out my keychains ASAP :) My boyfriend loved it. I still remember that moment. We went out for brunch, just us two, and I dug my hand into my purse discreetly. I held the keychain in my palm and opened my fist on top of our table. Immediately, he took out his keys and gave a new home to his keychain. Five months later, it's still hanging from his keys! I spent about $10 for 2 keychains, but the price can range, depending on the quantity and variety you choose. These can be fantastic gifts for your friends and loved ones, especially because they're specially customized!

The Lovely Bones

I spent two days consuming myself in "The Lovely Bones" by Alice Sebold. I know, the book came out a couple years ago. I bought the book (for about $1!) at a used book sale on campus last year and finally got around to it. I love good sales. I must say the storyline itself is pretty impressive. There were a number of suspenseful points in the book that seemed to grab a hold of me. Susie Salmon, the narrator, watches her family grieve and move on from her tragic death at fourteen years old. From heaven, Susie discovers her mother's hidden personality and her father's undying love. "The Lovely Bones" is a great read; I recommend it!
